Organised Crime Group Arrests

Today, the Metropolitan Police, working alongside HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), carried out a major operation targeting a suspected organised crime group.

More than 800 officers executed warrants at 24 addresses across London, Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, resulting in 17 arrests. Searches remain ongoing and residents may continue to see an increased police presence in some areas over the coming days, including Cockfosters.

During the operation, an officer was injured while carrying out a warrant in Cockfosters. He received treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital. Thankfully, his injuries are not believed to be life-changing, and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.

The arrests are the result of a lengthy and complex investigation into serious organised crime, suspected money laundering and related financial offending. The operation demonstrates the commitment of the Metropolitan Police and its partners to disrupting organised crime groups and protecting our communities.

Organised crime can have a significant impact on local communities, often being linked to violence, exploitation and wider criminality. Today's action sends a clear message that those involved in organised crime will be identified, investigated and brought to justice.
